Athlete in Training: Defensive lineman

Essential Investigative Questions and Prompts:

State the task in your own words, and why it is important to you and to others (in your community and the world wide community):

To make a video to help the local and global community prepare for the football season. Without this,

some people may eat wrong, stretch wrong, and exercise in a way, that wont benefit them for football season. Without proper information

on what you are doing, some things can go wrong. For example, if you start working out the wrong muscles, this will not serv you any good in

practise. For a football defensive man it is very important to build up your leg and arm muscles. For a football defensive man it is very important to

work almost all the muscles in your body. If you dont work out all these muscles you may lack in a game and get kicked off the team. It also will help

you be a much better football defensive man player because you will be much stronger then your opponent and be able to beat them. It is also very important to eat the right vitamins and foods.

Complex-carbohydrates are extremly important to have the long lasting energy for the whole game. If you were to eat some burst energy foods like candy and caffien, this would prove disastrous to the defensive man because he will crash right in the begining and everyone will be able to easily push him over and get to the quarterback. In our video we show how to properly use the gym equipment, bad use of this equipment may cause your muscles not being worked, not the right muscles being worked, or you may harm your self.

State how the task is related to the AoI (and the guiding question):

Our task is related to the AoI because with this we may help our fellow class mates, coaches, and other people in our global community. With this video we are

teaching them how to prepare for the football season if they choose to participate in the football season. Even for people who are interested in starting football our videos and nutrition plan can show them what they will need to commit to and work out as a football player. Also, people who already play football may use this to adjust or modify there own routine or even learn something new for them.

Investigate and list available tools and resources and list them here:

-People
- MEAT Club Super Visor Doctor Robin Dernum
- Mrs. Sokol Who helped us learn the weight room and also what vitamins are vital for athletes
- Mrs. Connors For helping us with editing softwares, camera shots and angles and lighting
- Dr. Hannah (Dentist) For help with nutrition and vital vitamins

-The Internet
- www.livestrong.com For information on amount of proteins in food and also amount of carbs in food, this web site also gave information on natural fat foods
- www.lpi.oregonstate.edu For an introduction to the importance of calcium
- www.healthalternatives2000.com Gave a Chart of Vitamins that helped in our diet plan

-The Gym

We used the gym as our area to film our stretchs. In our Stretchs we had many types of camera angles, including POV
wichw as the most interesting as you could see the stretch, but what it would look like if you were actually doing it. Our stretchs
we used the dance room as the main shooting area. In the gym, we also used the weightroom to shoot all of our shoots on proper
technique on how to use the weight equipment but we also used it to explain what muscles it was working. In the weightroom we
also had many POV and also had mid shots, long shots, and also many long shots.

-Go! Pro

This type of camera was very important in many of our camera shots and angles because with this it was much easier to be
versatile with the camera, especially because we could mount the camera almost anywere and we could also mount the
camera on the person for a true POV shot. Though, we had to do some voice overs as the mic on the go pro was not very strong.

- Computer

Our computers were very important because we needed them for researching and also editing and recording of the voices. We used
a free program that was on our computers called Audicity. This program let us record and edit our voice clips and save them into
mp3 so we can insert them into Adobe Premier, the original format we could not be asble to instert but with mp3, we can not only insert
the voice but it is now also able to upload to popular video sites like youtube, school website, also we can have these videos on our phones
and ask them if our videos had formative information. After recording, Ed will be editing our footage with Adobe Premier wich is a high quality video
editer. Ed is also very talented with editing and shall be removing all our bloopers and such from the video. When he is editing, he will be adding transitions
for a more smooth video and also if needed some music.

Write a concise description of the task and your solution (‘Design Brief’) addressing ‘who’, ‘what’, ‘why’, and ‘how’:

Our video will be for people intrested in participating in the football league. This video will show you how to exercise correctly,

what muscles you are stretching, and also includes some nutrition facts on what you should eat, what vitamins are vital, and why it is important to eat complex-carbohydrates.

We are doing this to give information to the global environment and our local community to make better football players in the future. We will be making a video on how to do all the exercises and also including information on a diet.

Make a list of specifications that your product and presentation MUST have (‘Design Specification’):

Each group memeber must give at least one stretch and 3 exercises as well a nutrition plan and places to work out and where they can play football. Must have many diffrent type of
shots and camera angles.

List 4 different sources, and cite them properly (You need at least 4 and they must eventually be in MLA format):

Durnium, Robin. "MEAT Club (LJA)." Personal interview. Jan.-Feb. 2011.

Summarize how useful and reliable each source was:

These sources are reliable. The internet resources are reliable because they are backed by reliable Foundation or University. The authors have years and years of experience. There is also a contact us page were we could get in contact the actual author. We also interviewed very reliable people first is Dr. Hannah, is dentist and has a PHD. The Second is Coach Robin Durnium, he also has a PHD and has been a weight lifting coach for decades. That is why are sources are reliable.

Describe a set of ‘Tests for Success’ that you will perform on your product to see if your solution was successful (Think of each of the design specs you must meet and how you can test them individually!):

When doing our Test of Success, we will test a number of people. Some people we may consider for testing are, football players, professional athletes, PE teachers, and a dietitian.
When giving them this test, we would ask questions depending on their role. For example, we would ask the dietitian question on our nutrition. For the footballer, we would ask
him questions about the workout and general questions about football. For the professional athlete, we would ask him about diets and whats good to eat before an event, and also
about what muscles are important to work out and why stretching is vital. Some other people who would be good to test this out on are people with no experience with football
and see if they understand the guide, and see if it does really work on them.
