State the task in your own words, and why it is important to you and to others (in your community and the world wide community):

For our Tech/PE project, we are researching and demonstarting a proper work out and maintanance plan for a Varsity Basketball player. This is important to our community because it shows players or those curious to start, how to properly warm up, work out and take care of ones self to prepare for the sport.

State how the task is related to the AoI (and the guiding question):

Our Project is to help guide anyone in the community that is curious to learn what it takes to become a proper varsity basketball player, with information on all aspects from diet, prepation to nutrition. We aim to supply this wide range of knowledge in our multimedia video to anyone in need of it and this is why it is of benefit to the wider community(AoI). Having this video at anyones disposal will encourage a healthier and safer varsity basketball players. In turn it will improve the players skill and knowledge thus-fore creating a better basketball player.

Write a concise description of the task and your solution (‘Design Brief’) addressing ‘who’, ‘what’, ‘why’, and ‘how’:

We intend to help student basketball athletes to help their personal goals in becoming a better athlete by giving them a video to use as a guide to follow appropriate work out methods and machinery, and a correct nutritional plan to ensure their health and fitness as at the level it should be to becoming a succesful varsity basketball player .

Make a list of specifications that your product and presentation MUST have (‘Design Specification’):

  1. Nutrition and Dieting for the athlete

  2. Safety and preparation before a workout
  3. Muscle training in the gym
  4. Explanation for the exercises and the target muscles
  5. Everyone must be in the video

List 4 different sources, and cite them properly (You need at least 4 and they must eventually be in MLA format):




Summarize how useful and reliable each source was:

  • Basketball Training & Conditioning was helpful, but it seemed to be more for intense training than a high school student, but we were able to use some information from the site.
  • Better Basketball was helpful because it had some drills which helped up locate which muscles and drills were most beneficial.
  • The article by Jacob Michaels was extremely helpful because it not only had drills, but it specifically talked about what were the target muscles which helped us to decide which machines would be the most helpful. It also helped us realize the importance of vertical jump training. This site may have been less accurate than the other sites because it was also used for volleyball as well, which is training some different muscles.
  • Power Basketball, by Alan Stein was extremely helpful because when we talked to real people about what they ate during the season and they were very vague while the site gave us accurate and specific information. It also helped that it was specifically about teenage basketball training.

Describe a set of ‘Tests for Success’ that you will perform on your product to see if your solution was successful (Think of each of the design specs you must meet and how you can test them individually!):

We will provide a survey that will allow for people to tell us if we have successfully completed each area in our Design Specification. Example survey questions are:
True or False; are complex carbs(in moderation), detremental to your excercising plan?
Do you feel comfortable adjusting the height of the sit up machine?
Give two examples of streches that are beneficial before performing a basketball workout.
