Group Members: Taylor, Halee, Terrill

Athlete in Training: Ballet Dancer

Essential Investigative Questions and Prompts:

1.) State the task in your own words, and why it is important to you and to others (in your community and the world wide community):

Lets say someone in the community wants to do Ballet for the very first time, but they don't know what to do. They could simply look at the work that we have come up with and just follow it. We not only gave them workouts for them to get in shape, but we also gave them stretches that they could do and a nutrition plan so they know that they are eating healthy. This project is important to me because I have never done ballet before so I am learning something new. Not only can people who have never done ballet before, look at this, but people who have been in ballet for a very long time can look at our information so they can maybe add things to their workouts or nutrition plans.

2.) State how the task is related to the AoI (and the guiding question):

No one in my group has done ballet before so this is Human Ingenuity and Community and Service. This is Human Ingenuity because like I said none of us have ever done ballet before and this is Community and Service because we are aiding the Community by giving people a list of different workouts that they can do to prepare for something like a competition.

3.) Investigate and list available tools and resources and list them here:

The resources that we have are

Dance Studio: located at Le Jardin Academy
Gym: also located at Le Jardin Academy
Ballet Bar: In the dance studio at Le Jardin Academy

Some things that you might need

proper shoes
a good nutrition plan
good works outs designed for you (you never want to push your self to far)

4.) Write a concise description of the task and your solution (‘Design Brief’) addressing ‘who’, ‘what’, ‘why’, and ‘how’:

Who: Taylor, Terrill and Haelee

What: making a work out video for Ballet dancers or people that want to become ballet dancers and don't know what to do
Why: every ballet dancer needs a good workout and nutrition plan to follow. If we are able to provide one for them that includes stretching, workouts, nutrition and places that you can practice ballet. Then they can use that to the best of their abilities.
How: We all went online and did research to find different places that people could practice ballet and different workouts and how to use the machines in their workouts. We also found other websites that they could look at if they needed extra information.

5.) Make a list of specifications that your product and presentation MUST have (‘Design Specification’):

We must have 9 different workouts clearly explained and demonstrated so that the person knows exactly how to use the machine without getting hurt. We also need to give at least 3 different stretches and show how to do them and how long to hold them for. Another thing is we need to sho

w at least 3 different places that you can practice ballet and how to contact those people. We listed the place and a number to call and their address. One more thing that we needed was a nutrition plan. This nutrition plan consisted on what they needed to eat and the proportions that they should eat.

6.) List 4 different sources, and cite them properly (You need at least 4 and they must eventually be in MLA format):

7.) Summarize how useful and reliable each source was:

each of these websites is reliable because they are videos of a person physically doing the routine. The one website is a well known company, so it isn't something that no one has ever heard of before. I do feel that they are all very reliable.

8.) Describe a set of ‘Tests for Success’ that you will perform on your product to see if your solution was successful (Th

ink of each of the design specs you must meet and how you can test them individually!):

We could interview someone that does ballet to see if we are covering everything and making sure that our workouts are something that someone that does ballet would actually do. We could also email a dance studio and ask them the same things, like are these workouts or stretches something that you have your ballet students do, if not could you please list some of the workouts that you have them do. It would actually be beneficial if they were to email us back and tell us about some other workouts that they have their students do because then we would information straight from someone that teaches ballet.
