Essential Investigative Questions and Prompts:

1. State the task in your own words, and why it is important to you and to others (in your community and the world wide community)

The task is to successfully create a video to demonstrate how a ballerina should train and diet. This is important to learn in order to train correctly and not hurt yourself. It is important for my community as well because I am allowing them access to the right training for a certain type of athlete, it is important to know that different athletes equal different training! This demonstrating video is highly important because it gives my worldwide community access to diet plan, training and correct stretching all in one place. This is important to me because I will be learning correct techniques to produce a video, along with being more aware of sports that I do not participate in, such as ballet.

2.State how the task is related to the AoI (and the guiding question):

The AOI is Community and Service, which is related because we are providing knowledge to our world wide community by helping them access information about ballerina training. "How do I pull my own weight?" is the guiding question. We pulled our own weight by helping our community beat the stereotype by thinking that to be a ballerina, you are usually having a eating disorder or eating fairly little. We want to show that you can be a healthy ballerina! We are also pulling our own weight by learning correct work-outs to keep us in great shape to physically pull our own weight.

3.Investigate and list available tools and resources and list them here:

We plan on searching for the diet plans from the internet, and using our Highschool counselor (who has a background of ballet and the correct diet). I plan on searching for reliable sources and making sure they have previous knowledge of videos and filming. We will also research for our three work outs that will specifically benefit a ballerina virses other sports, such as foot ball. will also be a resource because of previous videos of ballerina and examples for visual learners. Others resources are the gym, our teacher (mr. Connors) and the teachings from class. Anna Dunham's previous knowledge will also become useful because she is a ballerina dancer and has been practicing since she was five.

4.Write a concise description of the task and your solution (‘Design Brief’) addressing ‘who’, ‘what’, ‘why’, and ‘how’:

The task is to make a video for the specific type of dancer, in our case a ballerina to benefit or inspire anyone in the community in a safe and effective way. We will demonstrate the strengthening excercises that will benefit beginner or hardcore ballerinas and explain the proper diet. We will be using Kodak flip cameras and tripods to film in the dance and fitness room up in the gym. The video should consist of the angles we have learned in class and the proper way to handle a camera, in order to achieve proper techniques. My solution is researching all the proper resources and gathering material that will benefit a baller dancer (man and female). We also plan on showing proper streches beforehand. Anna and I will demonstrate this with proper techniques, so we will learn how to make a film on dvd. We will be using mac computers so we can edit and delete all unwanted clips. We want to target all people in the community to learn ballet!

5. Make a list of specifications that your product and presentation MUST have (‘Design Specification’):

We need to go through the Design Cycle by making sure we establish a plan and investigation before we create our product. The tec aspect should follow the rubrics and plan out the entire process with input from both members. Our presentation must include, dirty singles, scenary shots, far away and medium shots, as well as close-ups (ex. shot of an eye). The video should also include correct lighting, such as three point lighting. Angles are extremely important.
Specific pe needs are: Having six strengthening excercises total and two streches. Each person in the group is responsible for three work-outs and one stretch. We also need to have hand copies of the DVD of the video, a works cited, and a paper consisting of the contribution of each group member. In our video we should describe what muscles, rules and safety are used in each work-out/strech.

This site was extremely useful because I was able to use it to complete my diet plan and was also incredibly reliable because it was made by wordpress, which does not publish unless reliable. They gave me helpful information on how salt can be substituted and how to keep food porportions equal to work-outs.

This site was reliable because it had no ads not related to ballerinas and work-outs and also matched the information from above. It was useful because it told me the important fact of drinking tea regularly.

I learned the proper technique for a pull-up, along with got instruction on what to do with my feet as I do a pull-up. It also made me visualize on how exactly to film my pull-up scene and from what angle. It is quite reliable because it was made by a trade mark company, especially since the company is called muscle and strength.

Each resource demonstrated knowledgable information about my ballerinas or the art of filming.

Describe a set of ‘Tests for Success’ that you will perform on your product to see if your solution was successful (Think of each of the design specs you must meet and how you can test them individually!):

Tests for success is reviewing the video and making sure it meets the rubric.

A test for success is having someone test our video and make sure our strengthening excercises, stretches and diet plan all work effectively. We could also make a questionaire on the effectivness of the video as well.
